In the beginning was the coffee… This is the slogan of our DABOV Coffee Month, and for us it is much more than just a good sounding slogan – these words contain our entire philosophy that guides our every action. In addition to offering premium specialty coffee, we believe it should be sourced in an ethical and environmentally friendly way. Our “Trade with a Trace” policy ensures transparency in every step of the supply chain, supporting farmers and the environment. For us, coffee is a hobby, a pleasure, a job, but most of all an experience in which everyone participates with their own contribution.
Ethiopia – the home of coffee
As you may know, the home of coffee is Ethiopia. There is hardly a more widely circulated legend about the origin of coffee than the legend that tells how a shepherd named Khalid (Khalidi, Khalid), who used to graze his goats in the mountainous regions of the Kaffa region (Ethiopia), noticed that when they grazed from a particular bush, his goats became more agile, more alive and did not take an afternoon nap. This all happened 12 centuries ago or around the year 900.
From then on, coffee became more and more important, so that today it is the second most traded commodity after oil. On this occasion, the focus will be on Ethiopia and the enchanting coffees coming from several farms, some of them at an altitude of 2500m. We will be pleased to provide and tell you more about them very soon…
A month dedicated to coffee
Throughout the month of October we have prepared an exciting and varied programme that is sure to delight all coffee lovers. Whether you’re an avid specialty coffee connoisseur or just beginning to discover the magic of the aromatic beverage, our events will provide you with a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of coffee in a new and fascinating way.
The month will be packed with a host of activities covering everything from tastings to masterclasses. You’ll have the opportunity to meet our coffeehunter, Jordan Dabov, who will be leading special tastings and sharing his knowledge and experience with you. For those who want to improve their coffee making skills, we will be offering masterclasses where different methods and subtleties in creating the perfect cup of coffee will be shown.
Two of our main events – DABOV Family Fest and Late Art Throwdown | DABOV x Slayer. DABOV Family Fest will be a special day dedicated to family and friends where everyone can enjoy a variety of coffees and join in fun activities. The Late Art Throwdown | DABOV x Slayer will provide an opportunity to showcase mastery in Late Art and cross jugs for spectacular prizes.
In addition, we will also be hosting business-focused events during DABOV Coffee Month that will offer valuable insights and opportunities for everyone interested in the industry.
