Flor de Café farm – a family tradition dating back to the 1940s

Every time you taste the fantastic coffee of the Flor de Café (“Coffee Flower”) farm in Guatemala, you are touching a family business dating back to the 1940s.

Oswaldo Perez Ramirez

The farm was established by Osvaldo Perez and his brothers in 1940, starting with the cultivation of coffee on an area of 5.6 hectares of land. In 1982 Osvaldo died and his sons Mario Alfonso, Max Joel and Osvaldo Perez Ramirez took over the family business. Gradually, they began to apply new and improved techniques in the cultivation of coffee plantations, resulting in higher yields. The brothers are also not afraid to experiment, starting to work on new varieties such as Catimor, Catuai, and Pacamara.

In the early 1990s, Osvaldo Pérez Ramírez bought out his brothers’ shares, also buying the coffee farm next door. Gradually the business grew and to date, the farm reaches an area of 105 hectares of coffee and 35 hectares of virgin rainforest.
